Mark Armstrong - HSE & Technical Services Director
Before joining Compass Group UK & Ireland in January 2015 Mark had a very successful career in the Army; 25 years as an Aircraft Engineer and 8 years in Defence Infrastructure. For his first 4 years in Compass Mark was the Technical Director bringing compliance and rigour to the delivery of Hard FM services within the UK before adding HSE to his portfolio. As the HSE & Technical Director he wishes to bring the safety culture practised within aviation to the delivery of all FM services within Compass Group UK & Ireland. His philosophy with Health & safety is not to say ‘no’, but to advise on how something can be done safely, and where we do have safety incidents, we need to understand the root causes and correct those.
Outside of work Mark is the Chairman of the Great Britain Luge Association, a Magistrate on the Worcestershire Bench and a Deputy Lieutenant for the County. A keen walker and amateur bee keeper, he keeps his engineering skills up maintaining classic cars.
